Rocket City Rubber Stone > Benefits of Rubber Stone

It is important to make sure your pool deck surface is both safe and durable. Pool decks in Alabama face extreme summer heat that can crack and ruin concrete and wood pool decks over time if not sealed properly. The problem is, sealing concrete, wood, pavers, and tile can lead to slips and falls, especially when the surface is wet. Rocket City Rubber Stone serves Madison, Limestone, Jackson, Lawrence, Morgan, Marshall, Dekalb, Winston, Pullman, Blount, & Etowah Counties as the only licensed dealer of Rubber Stone. Rubber Stone is the best surface option for pool decks, patios, walkways and stairs because of its unique properties. Learn more about the benefits below.

Weather Resistant

Over two decades ago, Dr. John T. McElveen founded Carolina Ear & Hearing Clinic, PC, a private medical and surgical practice specializing in the diseases of the ear. As experts in Otology and Neurotology, our team focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders involving the ear, its related skull base structures, and specific areas of the central nervous system. Both are highly specialized areas, requiring at least five years of residency training, in addition to completion of medical school and Otology and Neurotology fellowship training.

The proprietary recipe that creates the Rubber Stone product make it impervious to harsh, hot weather. These products have been applied to surfaces in extremely hot and cold environments and continue to outlast concrete, pavers, wood, and even tile year after year. The surface is durable, flexible, and fade resistant.

Non-Slip Protection

Rubber Stone is made from recycled tires. The same tires that keep your car on the road in rain.

The finished Rubber Stone pool deck surface is textured to improve with traction. Unlike the smooth surface of sealed concrete and pavers, the sealed surface of Rubber Stone doesn't get slick when its wet. Not only is Rubber Stone textured for improved slip-resistance, it is soft and springy as well. Its a perfect surface for areas where children are playing. This is why you commonly see it used on playgrounds.

Durable

Both the Sierra Stone and Rubber Stone products provide unmatched durability when it comes to surface protection. Concrete, wood, and pavers expand and contract as the surface heats and cools. Eventually this leads to cracks. The cracks fill with water, further damaging the structural integrity of the surface.

Rubber Stone can expand and contract on top of a concrete or wood surface because it is flexible. If a Rubber Stone surface were to get damaged, fixing it only takes a few minutes and is barely noticeable aftewards, leaving your pool deck or other surface looking great.

Low Maintenance

Unlike concrete and wood, Rubber Stone requires very little maintenance that is recommended every 3-5 years depending on weather conditions. Maintenance consists of using a household power washer to clean any dirt or debris off the surface and then rolling the provided epoxy over it. That's it. A newly applied coat of epoxy does not cause the surface to become slippery or contribute to falls when it gets wet. Concrete and wood can be very dangerous when a fresh coat of sealer is applied.

Cost Effective Resurfacing

When it comes to the cost of Rubber Stone, you need to consider prep time, application, ongoing maintenance and lifespan. Compared to other surfaces like concrete, redoing a surface requires completely demolishing and removing the old concrete before pouring new concrete. The application of concrete usually requires a concrete truck, a lot of people, and leftover concrete being dumped somewhere in your yard. This is no good. Concrete is dangerous when maintained properly because it gets very slippery when wet. This isn't ideal for a pool deck surface or any other surface with heavy foot traffic. If you don't seal it, the lifespan of concrete is shortened which means you have to do it all over again.

Rubber Stone, on the other hand, applies right over a cracked and damaged surface. The application process is quick and doesn't take weeks to cure. Maintenance is quick and can be done by yourself. The final surface, if maintained properly, will leave your pool deck in great shape for decades to come. It might even outlast you!
